NYC

NYC

I am currently sitting in a random office in NYC. For the past week I've been assisting Cary Norton on a shoot, and I'll be here until next Thursday. Today, has been a particularly lovely day, being that Laura is flying in today. She just has the ability to make my day infinitely better just by thinking of her. Fact.

On top of that, we're staying with the great Brian and Brooke Murphy. Wonderful people, and a wonderful place. This morning I woke up around 4:45 to see this image rising with the sun.

Keeping with the iPhone theme, I was able to go hear the curator of TED, Chris Anderson, give a small talk at . (I recorded the audio, and will post it when I get some downtime.) Here's a shot of us looking like we're best buddies who are going after the same girl, but we don't want the other to know:

It's been great hanging out in the city, but I will be very ready to return home come Thursday.

Soon after I return to Birmingham, Laura and I will be heading down to the beach with many dear friends to have a proper vacation. Then, it's back to wedding season with a bang! (2 in 1 weekend, both on location....crazy fun)

There's a big update for you guys. Lots of things to think through. I expect a 2 page paper on my desk in the morning.

Long, Awesome, Weekend

02.19-21.09

The Weekend was spent with meetings and hanging with some wonderful people.

Thursday, Laura and I headed for Charleston, SC, for my meeting with Garden & Gun. The meeting went wonderfully. We then ate and headed for Greenville, where I had another meeting with G Magazine, which also went very well. After that meeting, we drove to the home of Chris and Annie Koelle, two of the most talented people I know! Both are incredible artist and people, and it was an absolute joy to get to know them more. Oh, and their son is just plan cute.

Marshall Koelle

Saturday was spent in the park, napping, and driving to Fletcher, NC, where Chris and Annie had an art show opening. Great stuff.

Here's a group shot of all of us at the show, featuring Brannon McAllister (designer of NoiseTrade) and his wife of 1 week, Melissa McAlliser.

Let to Right: Melissa McAllister, Brannon McAlliser, Laura Vandal, Me, Chris Koelle, Annie Koelle, & Marshall Koelle

Then, Laura and I drove home through the night.

The next day, we had a show at SecondRow featuring the music of Neil Couvillion and David Berkeley. Such an amazing intimate show.

Pics from that, on a later post.

Long, awesome, weekend.

Inanimate Object: Bench; Vacation; John Dolan

The last 4 days I've been in Dallas with Laura visiting friends.

I took all of my camera equipment, and didn't shoot a single frame....it was wonderful.

We just returned from the 9 hour drive home, and in 4 hours Bryan and I will be leaving for the great NYC to take a wedding photographer workshop with the also great John Dolan.

I'm very excited about this week.

We're taking some camera's and a laptop, so we should both be updating our blogs while there.

My Last Week

I pretty much made a figure 8 (with a little tail) on the South/Midwest United States.

I'm tired, but it's been a good week. I've been shooting lots of film, and yesterday I got a roll back, edited it, and forgot to post it on the server....so....I'm going to post a shot unedited (which I never do*), because I like it so much.

This is Nicholas. You may remember me talking about him when I took my trip to Romania.

Nicholas served as a missionary in Romania for 2 years and has just returned to the States "for good".

He and his fiancee, Melissa, are getting married in October, and they both came up to visit a week ago. When Nicholas was about to go for a run, I ask him to go up on the roof of my house for a portrait.

Welcome home, man!

Peace. - Caleb

*Yes Cary, I wish I had kept his feet in. But I still like the shot.
