The weekend in the mountains was fantastic. As soon as we get the shots off of Bryan's point-n-shoot, I will show some pictures.

I just got some film back yesterday. May I say, I love getting film in. One reason: I usually have no idea what film It is. This time, it was a combination of things. First, I must tell you that my brother Matt gave me a new camera. Well, by "new" I mean "old" and by "camera" I mean "the most simple camera you'll ever see." It's pretty awesome. It takes 120 film and you can't adjust Anything on it. All you can do is click the small red lever on the side and roll the film to the next frame. Again, it's pretty awesome.

This leads into saying that a little over a month ago I had lunch with my friend Matt Jones and I thought I would take a couple of him, just to try out the camera. Here's what came out:

After lunch, I drove to Franklin, TN to meet with a film production company. The company is located in this really cool town square. There was a small festival just getting under-way, and it felt a little like Mayberry when I saw these old guys just jamm'n in front of the courthouse.

Also, the film from the My Brightest Diamond shoot came in.

Also, also, my computer is fixed...yay.

August 15, 2007

This weekend I'm going on a retreat to the mountains. It should be pretty awesome. Hopefully lots to tell when we return.

In further news, my friend Lee is leaving for St. Louis on Monday to go to seminary. This guy is just plain awesome. I while back he broke his arm, and he let me document that time in his life by turning him into a robot. Here's one of the shots:

You shall be missed my friend.

In other other news, my computer speakers blew-out today, so I can't listen to music. Which is pretty terrible. I'll be getting that fixed soon.

"The wind blows.

Who knows where the wind goes.
Whether far from this place,
or into hidden space,
it leaves of itself no trace."

- Ralf Benaggery, Too Much To Be Taken Today

"Wind is a strange thing. On a warm day in open places it can be the spirit of change and comfort. The soul witness who cries, "You are guilty of forgetfulness, but I hold you all the same."

- Marcus Ivory, Pictures of Broken Mirrors

"The only wind to pass through these parts recently is that which comes from my arse!"

- Mindy Lever, Innocene In Earth & Skin: A Minner Tale

I've been thinking about wind.

It is hot. VERY hot.

Yesterday was my day off. However, it didn't get very relaxed until the end of the day. The beginning was filled with one of my least favorite things to do in the world: stand in line.

First up, I had to renew my license plate (which expired in March, as the police man who pulled me over so kindly reminded me) and I had to pay a fine for being late.

Is there a better way to spend your Friday Morning? Standing on dirty white tiles under flickering florecents, waiting for the beautiful government queen (who is wearing a denim jumper) to begin processing your request? You wait, sweaty palms folded in front of you. In your pockets you hold all the documents you need (you hope). You begin to ask yourself, "Will the queen permit me to speak, or will she take one look at me and banish me to another line?"

Then, it happens. The queen opens her mounth, and with the sweet air of someone who just finished a McDonalds bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, she utters the single word you've been waiting to hear.

"NEXT!"

Then I went to Verizon and had the best experience with costumer service ever...NOT!

But then the day got better. I got my hair cut (thanks Deanna), came home, read a little, cleaned my room (which I haven't lived in since I moved here 2 months ago), and hung out with my friend Lee. That night, we watched V for Vendetta, an amazing film.

So that was my day.

My good friend Rob is moving to NYC tomorrow. Talk about a guy who is just plain solid...yeah, that's Rob.

I could say many personal things about Rob, but I'll keep it professional (so tears don't fall on my keyboard :( ). He is an amazing photographer. To demonstate that, I will now display some of his work:

If you want to keep up with Rob's adventures in NY, you should check out his new Blog.

When Bob and I met with Shara Worden last week, we came bearing gifts...well, really just bearing gift.

We had read somewhere that she had a little crush on a composer named Pierre Boulez, so we did what any photographers/interviewers would do...we made her a t-shirt that said "I Heart Pierre Boulez."

So, I went to her website today, and what do I see...

For those of you who don't know them, you need to know them. For those of you who do know them, you need to get their new album.

Here's a sample. It's called "Into Brooklyn, Early In The Morning":
