New Polaroid Cameras

While in Austin this weekend, Rob and I stopped at a Wolf Camera that was going out of business. There was pretty much nothing left in the store.... except 4 polaroid cameras! These are not regular polaroid cameras, they are: two Shackman Multishot 102, one 4x5 multishot, and one passport camera (including flash and PC sync)!

I'm just saying.... we had fun that weekend.

Here's a few examples from the 102's:

Celine & Waiting for Contact Sheets

Celine Russell

Celine is awesome. I can't wait for her site to launch this summer! We recently did a casual shoot for her profile section of the site.

Celine Russell

I should have some contact sheets coming in today or tomorrow from Richard Photo Lab. The sheets will include Katie Herzig, Katherine Tucker, Skaters, and a roll from the shoot I did with Jeremy. I'm pretty pumped!

We call days when film comes back "Film-mas" because it kind of feels like a certain December Holiday. Can you guess it?

In other news, Rob and I just returned yesterday from a great trip to Austin, TX. The wedding we shot featured one of the greatest couples ever! I'll try to post a few images when the wedding is launched.

Talk later!

Katie Herzig

Katie Herzig came into town yesterday, and was very kind to give me time to shoot a portrait. I'll have the film finished next week, but until then, enjoy! If you don't know her music, you can download it free HERE.

On White Sky: Cary Norton

Cary Norton

Cary Norton and I got in the car yesterday and drove North. 45 minutes later, I was jumping in a lake and making Cary stand on a large bolder. The 4x5's of me in the lake will be posted on Electric Lion sometime today. I will more than likely repost them here....they are kind of ridculous....

Happy Tuesday.

Assisting Jason

Set Up

Yesterday I spent the day assisting Jason Wallis for an ad shoot. My job was to set up lights, hold reflectors, and act like a idiot to make people laugh...well that last part wasn't in the job description, it was just something I did....do...yeah...

Inspiration: Billy Collins

Forgetfulness - Billy Collins Animated Poetry from smjwt on Vimeo.

On Tuesday of this week, Laura and I spent the afternoon listening to vinyls, and reading the poetry of Billy Collins.

Corny? Absolutely. Yet still awesome.

I only own one collection of Poems by Billy Collins, and it's this one:

My favorite Poem from this collections is called:

On Turning Ten

The whole idea of it makes me feel
like I'm coming down with something,
something worse than any stomach ache
or the headaches I get from reading in bad light--
a kind of measles of the spirit,
a mumps of the psyche,
a disfiguring chicken pox of the soul.

You tell me it is too early to be looking back,
but that is because you have forgotten
the perfect simplicity of being one
and the beautiful complexity introduced by two.
But I can lie on my bed and remember every digit.
At four I was an Arabian wizard.
I could make myself invisible
by drinking a glass of milk a certain way.
At seven I was a soldier, at nine a prince.

But now I am mostly at the window
watching the late afternoon light.
Back then it never fell so solemnly
against the side of my tree house,
and my bicycle never leaned against the garage
as it does today,
all the dark blue speed drained out of it.

This is the beginning of sadness, I say to myself,
as I walk through the universe in my sneakers.
It is time to say good-bye to my imaginary friends,
time to turn the first big number.

It seems only yesterday I used to believe
there was nothing under my skin but light.
If you cut me I could shine.
But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life,
I skin my knees. I bleed.

Make sure to watch the video at the top. So amazing.

Peace. - Caleb
