Fredo Viola, Contact Sheet

Here's a glimpse at a contact sheet I just got back from my shoot with Fredo Viola.

Fredo doesn't really like being in front of a camera (which I totally respect), so we just ending up talking for a few hours, and I took 4 frames of Holga during that time.

I think these shots are very honest representations of his personality: reserved, contemplative, and, above all, very joyful. This seemingly small shoot really taught me a lot about the importance of not forcing something to happen, and really just being aware and letting things be. If I had tried to take more than these few pictures, the atmosphere would have been uncomfortable, dishonest, and the friendship we developed would have been tainted.

After I took these, I handed the camera to Fredo, and he ran off the rest of the roll while we walked around the city (which by the way Fredo, your shots came out great!).

Thanks Fredo, and I look forward to hanging out again in the future.

I'll post the final prints when they come.

Peace. - Caleb

P.S. Sorry, but the scanner I used to scan the contact sheet was pretty dusty....

Wideo Wonders (1 of 3): Fredo Viola

Fredo Viola is amazing.

Fact.

I discovered him, oh, sometime this morning, and I have been watching his music videos and listening to his online album (yet to be released) all day.

Just for kicks, here's how his bio begins:

I was born in London, England and spent my first five years living in England and Rome. After that my family moved to New York, then Los Angeles, where I spent most of my adolescent years, singing professionally as a boy soprano and studying art once my voice changed. Finally I moved back to NYC to attend NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

Interested? You should be. This guy does everything from animation to music to videography.

Here's one of my favorites:

Go check him out!
