She & Him

I am in love with this album.

A few months ago, whilst skimming through the blogs-o-the-day, I came across THIS entry from a music reviewer a highly respect (shout out Heather). Needless to say the concept of Zoey Deschanel and M. Ward combining forces intrigued me.

So, I waited for the album.

Now, I have it.

It is very solid.

The album begins with Zoey's powerful 50's voice heaving the heavy lyrics of "Sentimental Heart" into your, now sentimentalised, heart. Her rough yet crooning vocals are accompanied by a solo piano, but just wait until 2:05 when Zooey is joined by strings, four part harmony, and full band.

And that's just track 1.

After listening to the album in it's entirety (how many times was it Laura...7 in a row), I'm convinced I can recommend it to you guys.

Also, I need to buy it on vinyl. It's full, it feels old, and I would love to have the 12" Artwork.

I know you posted this forever ago in blog time but...I briefly met Bryan at the Cypress booth at WPPI and was looking through his blog which led me to your blog which led me to your recommendation for She & Him and I just wanted to thank you. I love Sentimental Heart. I have also enjoyed looking at all of your great random photos.
Happy belated birthday by the way.
